In seven-card stud poker the lowball proposition can consist of any of the following cards: a, b, c, d, e, f, g, k, l, andm. If a player has thelowball proposition, and that player doesn’t have a suitable card, they may announce that they would like to draw a card and if thelowball bidder gets that card, they must fold, otherwise they win the pot without having tolay any of their chips out. The player who has the highest hand after the draw then gets to keep all their chips.

If for some reason a player is forced to fold before they have a chance to raise their chip, a wild card can be used. A wild card is used when a player has no valid reason to raise their total chips, and it is usually placed into the pot next to the lowball proposition. A wild card can only be used once, and cannot be used again after being used unless the players agree. Players may wish to bluff with a wild card, but doing so will often backfire as their opponent will have used his or her ante and possibly has a higher hand. An important note about wild cards; they cannot be used to force a player to fold, so players should be careful when attempting this tactic.
